CHAMBER MUSIC & PIANO RECITAL
New World School of the Arts' Chamber Music and Piano Recital will feature students of the NWSA College Music Division coming together to collaborate in one of music's most revered genres, chamber music. The skill required to perform chamber works ultimately leads to communicating musical intention without words to interpret timeless works by beloved composers. In this performance, the young artists will be featuring works by Turina from Spain, Villa Lobos from Brazil and from Hungary, Bartok's Contrast for violin, clarinet and piano, among many more. Students from the piano studio of adjunct professor Ciro Fodere, will round off the performance.

MACBETH - A TIMELESS TRAGEDY
NWSA College Theater Division presents Macbeth, William Shakespeare's shortest and bloodiest tragedy, which has been hailed as one of his most transcendental works. Directed by James Randolph, the production showcases theater students who are about to receive their BFA degree this year. A timeless play, Randolph notes the relevance to society stating that, "There is a bit of Macbeth in all of us - What makes us humane vs. merely being human is when we do what's right instead of what's possible."
Macbeth , the central figure in Shakespeare's play, is portrayed as a heroic Scottish general turned tyrannical king. Fulfilling the prophesy of three macabre witches, who announced that he would hold the highest rank in his kingdom, Macbeth is eventually driven to murder, manipulation and madness during his reign. Consumed by guilt and fear, and fueled by his wife's relentless thirst for power, Macbeth reigns with an iron fist in order to keep his throne, and rather than justice and honesty, slaughter and fear become the religion by which he controls his subjects.

NEW PLAYWRIGHTS' FESTIVAL
The 2015 New Playwrights' Festival features eight original short plays written by current New World School of the Arts High School and College Students. This year there will be one student-directed and seven faculty-directed productions. The festival allows young student playwrights from both the high school and college the unique opportunity to experience what is like to workshop an original play.
"The students gain a deeper understanding of the challenges of rewrites and other adjustments that must be made when producing original work. They learn that playwriting begins as a solitary endeavor, and then develops into a collaborative art form once the director, designers and actors become involved. Each artist contributes to the shape of the final, produced play," said 2015 Festival Coordinator, Pamela Roza Hayes.
