ROCK 'N' ROLL JUMPSTARTS THE THEATER SEASON
New World School of the Arts theater program kicks off the NWSA college theater season with Rock 'N' Roll, a play written by British playwright Tom Stoppard. With direction by NWSA faculty member, Stuart Meltzer, the play features NWSA BFA college theater students. "Rock 'N' Roll is one of the greatest political epic plays for our generation and we are thrilled as artists to have the chance to sink our teeth into the work of Mr. Stoppard and challenged as theatre people to be honest with the storytelling," said Meltzer.
There will be an Opening Reception on Friday, October 10 to recognize Ralph Lutrin and Alfred Allan Lewis, two New World School of the Arts friends and supporters who have left their mark in South Florida through their contributions to the arts. NWSA is honored to have them both among its family of supporters and as founding members of its Legacy Society.

NWSA REPERTORY DANCE ENSEMBLE OFFERS VIBRANT PROGRAM IN AVENTURA
Now in its third season, New World School of the Arts' NWSA Repertory Dance Ensemble continues to be the opening concert for the NWSA dance season. Gracing the City of Aventura, the concert features a dynamic program with performers in the ballet, modern and hip-hop styles. This year's performance will feature NWSA's talented High School and College dancers performing a varied evening of choreography. The program will include Lara Murphy's evocative Nosotros - a romantic pas de deux set to the music of prolific Cuban composer and respected pianist Ernesto Lecuona. Darshan Bhuller's evocative 1914 commemorates the centennial of World War I with a 15-minute abstract piece that exposes the isolation and desolation of war, while Robert Battle's Rush Hour energizes the stage with its powerful abstraction of modern life. Kehynde Hill's work entitled (B)ear (N)o (W)itness explores hop-hop with an upbeat score of contemporary music and a solemn storyline. The program also features a driving contemporary work by guest choreographer Jose Garant entitled Forced Entry, as well as two ballet works - an excerpt from the upcoming Thomas Armour Youth Ballet/NWSA production of The Nutcracker and Away, a moving contemporary piece by Gerard Ebitz.
