Miami Water Music is a NWSA Music Division Composition concert featuring works by students from the studios of Dr. Susan Epstein Garcia and Dr. Ferdinando De Sena, culminating in a collaboration between NWSA's Music, Dance and Visual Arts divisions. It is the Music division's contribution to National Water Dance, Dale Andree's national water awareness initiative. NWSA Dance Professor Dale Andree, Music Professor Dr. Susan Epstein Garcia, and Visual Arts Professor Rosario Martinez-Cañas joined forces to bring water awareness to their students through a guided immersion in the Fall 2013. The students learned how through the building of canals, Miami's water changed from sweet to brackish, and that flora and fauna changed as well.  The Music students created musical works that reflect their experiences during the immersion, which they will present at the Colony Theater.

Meanwhile, the dancers created movements and specific gestures that they will present for National Water Dance at the Deering Estate performance. The NWSA Graphic Design students formulated some ideas about branding and logos for the concert and the National Water Dance event as well. The goal was to teach water consciousness and social activism through the arts. The Graphic Design students also created buttons for the events and there will be a low-flow showerhead exchange, courtesy of the City of Miami, at both events, sponsored by the MDC Earth Ethics Institute. Some pieces on the program include Waterless River, a film by Carla Cao who did both the video recording and the musical composition for the film, produced by student, Jon Shipp, Jr., a short musical theater production, Everything but Water, played by a NWSA pianist, Maria Elisabeta Zdralea, with music composed by Jasmine Thompson, and a three movement piece for Flute, Marimba, Viola and Bongos called ē.vō.cā.tion by Alberto Monnar.

New World School of the Art's college theater students present the classic French farce, A Flea In Her Ear, by Georges Feydeau, translated by Barnett Shaw. This La Belle Époque play, written in 1907 and performed for the first time in the United States in 1967, is directed by Andrew Noble and features a cast comprised of college juniors and seniors. In his director's notes, Noble comments, "Feydeau wrote in the tradition of the "well made play" of Scribe and Labiche. The complexity of his plots has been likened to a "Chinese Box." Although originally set in the early years of the twentieth century, NWSA's production places the action firmly in the modern era.

The root of a seemingly conventional marriage, a bout of suspicion along with unexpected mistaken identity, leads the characters of this hilarious farce into a wild goose chase. Raymonde suspects her husband Victor of having an affair and, with the help of her friend Lucienne, decides to catch him in the act. Raymonde's plot backfires, however, as Victor is only suffering from an emotional ailment that has nothing to do with her absurd suspicions. Meanwhile, bad timing, seduction and misunderstanding sets off a series of unfortunate events reeling-in colorful characters who chase each other through slamming doors and fly off spinning beds in the seedy Hotel Coq d'Or. The misunderstood Camille, a young man with a speech impediment, sets out to straighten the confusion but only worsens the situation. An alcoholic, a silver palate, a gun and a doctor looking for love thicken the plot to a climatic state before the couple realizes the gravity of their mistaken suspicion and vow to go back to their most amorous basics.

Gaetano Donizettit's three-act comedic opera masterpiece, Don Pasquale, featuring Tony Dillon, as special guest artist singing the role of Don Pasquale. The cast of college students from the New World School of the Arts College Opera Theater Ensemble - directed by Rodney Miller - is comprised of seniors majoring in voice. The presentation offers them the opportunity to appear in a professional-level production staged by Albert Sherman, resident director at New York City Opera who has directed critically acclaimed productions all over America. The fully staged opera includes magnificent period costumes, scenery and props, and live music by the NWSA Symphony Orchestra under the baton of maestro Alfred Gershfeld.

Don Pasquale is set in Rome during the early 19th Century. Ernesto is in love with the lovely Norina who does not have a dime to her name. He refuses to marry the woman chosen for him by his rich uncle Don Pasquale. Meanwhile, Don Pasquale plans to wed and produce his own heirs, cutting Ernesto off from his inheritance. Dr. Malatesta, a close friend of the old man, asks Don Pasquale to let him choose the bride for him in order to avoid disaster in the family. He explains that his sister Sofronia (who is actually a nun) would be the perfect choice for him and Don Pasquale happily accepts the proposal. Disguised as Sofronia, Norina is presented to Don Pasquale, who is quick to sign a marriage contract - which just happens to be fake. When the sweet new wife suddenly turns into a vicious woman, Don Pasquale attempts to get rid of her claiming her unfaithfulness. The scheming plot is eventually exposed and the old man, who is only too happy to get out of his miserable "fake" marriage, happily consents to Ernesto and Norina's wedding.

NWSA College alumnus LaMichael Leonard, a principal dancer with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, returned to NWSA teach master classes for both the college and high school divisions. Leonard, originally from Tallahassee, began his professional dance career with the Martha Graham Dance Company, and joined the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company in 2007 where he is a prominently featured dancer. It was exciting for the dancers to work with this accomplished professional dancer and experience the challenge of his approach to movement.
