Words And Their Stories™ Word of the Month
|
Here's the story behind one of our favorite words from Words And Their Stories, our award-winning grades 5-12 vocabulary program. Enjoy! HARMONY:Did you know that harmony originally was a carpenter's term? Harmony comes from the Greek harmozein, which means "to fit together," and harmos, which means "joint." Today, the meaning of harmony goes beyond the carpenter's bench to describe the activities of many social settings. Can people "join" or "fit together" the same way pieces of wood join together when a carpenter builds something?
Learn the fascinating stories behind more words by exploring the FREE trial of Words And Their Stories today.
