Feng Shui Friday

November 22, 2013

It's Feng Shui Friday and we're counting down the days to our next holiday:  Thanksgiving.  I've noticed on FaceBook people using the first 27 days of November to daily express their gratitude for something in their lives.

Karen Rauch Carter, feng shui expert and author of Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life says, "If you don't know it, gratitude is one of the fastest ways out there to raise your energy vibration (like attracts like remember?)"-- where intention goes, energy flows.  Adopt a grateful spirit and experience results, the feng shui way.

Feng Shui Tip of the Week

Letting go.

Over the past month, as I've shared my thoughts with you about clearing clutter, letting go, and making room for Spirit I have experienced some wonderful results.  First, the health care debacle arrived at our house.  It was uninvited.  Long story short, the company from which my husband retired was bought...again...and over the years, with each new buy-out, they have done everything they can to eliminate health care for the retirees.  Until the enrollment period started, November 11, we lay awake worrying.  Finally, I said out loud how grateful and fortunate we were to not have had any health care issues for the past 42 years, and then we scheduled a day to 'tackle' the enrollment issues. Amazingly, communication was positive and helpful and we were done in just a couple hours, instead of all day, and we have health insurance.  Next, I was concerned about a program I had signed up for that ended up being more expensive than I felt I could manage at this time.  I was disappointed but knew I had to do something different. After several days of meditation and introspection, I was able to let it go, trusting something in accordance with my highest good would show up.  Sure enough, over birthday drinks, my dear friend had a solution that will be perfect.  Finally, Birgit and I wanted to teach our Lunar (Chinese) New Year art workshop again in January (see details in Happenings below) but had no venue.  Again, grateful for people interested in the class and its success the past five years, we decided to make inquiry calls on the upcoming Monday and let it go until then.  Surprise!  An email from Gwen and Patrick McCarroll announcing their new Java Jam Café coffee house and event center appeared and we are booked and ready for our annual event.  I am so grateful!!

The Spirit of Gratitude.  Thanksgiving annually focuses our attention on being grateful and thankful.  Like the very first celebration, the "Pilgrims and Indians" looked back at their struggles to create an environment that supported who they were and where they were going and came together in the spirit of thanksgiving.  Our challenge is to remember that we can have that same spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving every single day of the year and not just in November.  Consider starting a Gratitude Journal or Thanksgiving-All-Year diary and jotting down one or many things each day for which you are thankful.  Let the first entry be "A Grateful Spirit".

This week join me in my focus on 'less is more'.  When we simplify we make room for Spirit.  When we are grateful for what we have, we experience more results.  Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Simplified Thanksgiving!

Until Next Week
