Feng Shui Friday

August 2, 2013

Greetings!

Happy August Feng Shui Friday.  How did it get to be August...already?  Our granddaughter goes to second grade next week...already.  Thankfully, for those of us who live in Colorado we have several more months of beautiful weather so we can continue our summer activities, farmer's markets, and outdoor adventures.

This week I'm wrapping up the 'clutter basics' with what feng shui has to do with it.  As I helped my friend finish the garage sale and empty (almost) her mother's home, she was reduced to tears with the feeling "that a weight has been lifted" and a feeling of lightness.  That's clearing clutter the feng shui way.

Feng Shui Tip of the Week

Everything is Connected.  What's going on in your environment is a direct reflection of what's happening to you inside--mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional.  Everything we hold on to, what we display and how we decorate, color choices, and even how we dress is directly related to what we believe about who we are and where we're going.  And the energy of our belief shows up literally in our homes and offices.  By consciously changing even one thing--one color, moving a piece of furniture, or letting go of  things you do not love, use or need--you can create results.

Energy Zapper. As I mentioned last week, clutter is an energy zapper.  Anything you have in your space that you do not love, use or need remains energetically attached to you, requiring your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual attention 24/7 and keeping you from living light.  Start detaching yourself from things, possessions, to-do's, 'just in case' stuff and see if you don't begin to feel the weight lifted.

Past vs. Future.  Create space for New.  Past stuff holds energy--good, sad, neutral.  Take a look around your space and find anything that does not hold great energy for you, keeps you in the past, brings up sad memories.  It's important to remember where we came from but not at the expense of where we're going.  Create some open space, a clean surface or tabletop, an empty corner, or an empty basket or bowl.  Then imagine how you want to fill that space with new job opportunities, new friends, new adventures, more time, and more energy.  One of my faithful readers, Joanne in Washington, wrote to say, "I am taking my clutter clearing to a new level as I get to mid-year.  So much has changed.  I know who I am.  I have room for the good stuff.  I realize I am preparing for my next job, so I need to be ready.  Just like a baseball player waiting for the call to go to the Major League."  Congratulations, Joanne.  Why not join her and make room for your call?

This week set a deliberate intention of getting unstuck, or inviting change, or encouraging something different in your life by simply altering anything in your space and see what happens.

Until Next Week
Wishing you Simplified Interiors
