Putting deterrent measures in place before the geese arrive is the best way to control geese. Geese often arrive at different times; late winter or early spring depending on your location. Once the geese have established nests it will be nearly impossible to make them leave, so it is important to take goose control methods into consideration before the geese arrive and before their eggs are laid. Avian Control and Migrate Goose Repellent are two spray-on taste deterrents that contain methyl-anthranilate (MA), a food grade grape extract that geese do not like. The geese are forced to eat the grass with MA on it, they dislike the taste, and they then leave the area. These sprays are topical, not systemic, so an application every two weeks is typically most effective.  Be sure the area you want to spray is dry and for maximum effectiveness, trim the grass before each application.
