January 2013 Update

Dear Readers:

Some movie updates, some answers to frequently asked questions, humor, living tips... and a unique opportunity for a few future best-selling authors among you...

IS YOUR GOAL TO BE A PUBLISHED AUTHOR in 2013?

Two spots just opened for this year in my WRITING COACH PROGRAM. This is for storytellers who have always dreamed of being published (not self-published -- the real deal). In the last eight years, I've selected only 14 clients in the program. Four have already been published, with more to follow very soon. Cost of the program is $3,700, (REG. $4500 AND half what I paid 17 years ago to edit MEG) which commits me to working with you from start to finish, plus assisting in getting the final manuscript to an agent/publisher.  We'll develop your story, edit the chapters, then I'll help you write a query letter to agents and publishers. If you think you have what it takes...

STEP 1: E-MAIL me a synopsis of your story at [email protected]

STEP 2: I will offer feedback (free). If I see potential, I will arrange a phone call where we brainstorm the idea. These calls are always exciting as they flesh out the idea (no charge).

STEP 3: If we both agree to move forward, I send you a commitment letter that commits my services to your project. PLEASE DON'T GO THRU THE PROCESS IF YOU CANNOT PAY THE REDUCED FEE.

Regarding the outlook for a MEG and LOCH movie... we're hoping to make a big announcement in 2013. An international cast is being selected, top notch talent behind the cameras. . . fingers crossed. More details to come as soon as I am allowed to remove my muzzle.

With that stated, please enjoy your update!

Living Tips - Which Foods NOT to Eat

White Bread
With so much misinformation out there about food and how it affects human health, making healthy food choices for you and your family can be difficult and confusing. There are a number of specific foods; however, that you will want to avoid in almost every circumstance because they provide virtually no health benefits while posing plenty of health risks.

Will MEG: ORIGINS ever be published in a traditional book form?
MEG Origins
As many of you know, MEG; ORIGINS is the e-book prequel to MEG. The format was chosen to provide ten high-quality color images inside a fun story of what happened to Jonas seven years before the novel MEG begins. The thriller sells for only .99 cents, but at 88 pages, it's too short to publish as a paperback. However, key characters introduced in ORIGINS will find their way into MEG 5: NIGHT STALKERS.
Will THE TRENCH ever be published as an e-book?

My goal is to see the entire MEG series set-up with one publishing house. Until that happens, I am holding onto the e-book rights for The TRENCH.

You can't make this stuff up...

A 30 year old woman "accidentally" swallowed a Butter Knife while trying to prove to her friends that she no longer had a gag reflex. Doctors were able to surgically remove the knife, and she had no severe damage or permanent scars. Her husband later revealed that four years prior she swallowed another knife, and also required surgery to remove that one. Courtesy Fox News.

Joke of the Month:

Joke of the monthOne day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off! Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Enough of that crap . . . The donkey later came back and bit the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected, and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock. MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON: When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.

Recipe of the Month: Crispy Chicken Cutlets

Ingredients: 6 chicken cutlets
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 scallions, chopped
Several sprigs of fresh thyme, leaves only.

Salt the cutlets lightly and rub the salt in on both sides. In a small bowl mix together the remaining ingredients and the mayonnaise. Spread the flavored mayonnaise over the chicken, coating both sides, and let it marinate for 2 hours. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the cutlets on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until the outside is golden brown and crispy. If they're not crispy, run them under the broiler.
Serves 6.

Enjoy! Erin Suchoski
