Camp Spark A SUCCESS

Over the last two weeks, our church has offered a summer reading program for middle school students, called Camp Spark. Groups of two to three students read a book with an adult mentor from FUMC. We also offered course recovery to students who needed to finish up schoolwork in order to pass on to the next grade.

Thank you to Gina McNeil and our  large team of church volunteers who made this year's camp A SUCCESS.

FUMC Volunteers at Coalition for the Homeless

Our church has four teams that visit the Coalition for the Homeless on a rotating basis. This month's team was led by Dr. John Cappleman, and included our Choir Director Katie Brugal and and Children's Director Jamie Johnson. Church members cook and serve meals to women and children on Sunday evenings. First United Methodist of Winter Garden has supported the Coalition for the Homeless for twenty years.  Parents and youth often serve together; this experience has been an important stepping stone for our youth on their faith journey.
Contact the church office to join a team and check out our website for more info!

Serendipity Class Begins New Study
Serendipity Class meets in the conference room, 10:15.

"Fearless Conversation" began on Sunday August 3.

This adult Sunday school curriculum is designed to build relationships through authentic conversation. A fearless conversation is a healthy open dialogue that addresses "wondering" questions about faith and God in a compassionate environment, using the Bible as our source to find the truth. It's all about sharing experiences openly and embracing doubts and questions. As you seek to understand others through active listening, you trust the Holy Spirit to guide you all the way.

Fearless Conversation Will:

Help people get to know God and each other better by exploring "wondering" questions.
Encourage people to look to the Bible for the answers to their biggest questions.
Foster participation so everyone is a valuable part of the dialogue.
