Liturgical Year: Eastertide
Christians have now entered the Easter Season. Eastertide is about launching new or renewed disciples, grounded in the way of Jesus and in the basic teaching of the church, into a lifetime of ministry in Jesus' name with the support and accountability of the whole church. Church Angels in Action
Last week, we shared photos of our littlest angels. Below are some photos from behind the scenes on Easter Sunday.

In the kitchen, Judy Brooks records attendance for the Didache class, led by Dan Smithwick; it meets in Fellowship Hall. FUMC takes attendance for all groups & classes. John Wesley would be pleased! The Brooks family also faithfully serve as greeters at the 9am service.
| In the choir room, worship leaders take a break between services: Jamie Johnson (Co-Chair of Worship Committee), Katie Brugal (Choir Director) and Michael Brugal (Finance Committee, Trustees).
Thanks to the 18+ people on our worship team for our wonderful Easter services.

Head Usher, Larry McWilliams, gets ready to store our offering in the church safe.

Mark Winsor takes on so many tasks on the church property that some church members have mistaken him for a staff member! Tracy Winsor, who prepared an Easter breakfast for the worship team, was still at the video and sound console in the Sanctuary when this photo was snapped. Both Mark and Tracy are also very active in Scouting.

UMC Response to Tornados
On Sunday, April 27, an outbreak of tornadoes tore through seven Southern and Midwestern states, devastating several communities. See: UMCOR May News. At time of writing, as requested by affected annual conferences, UMCOR has provided emergency grants to North Carolina, Great Plains and North Alabama.
Greg Forrester, UMCOR's US Disaster Response executive, writes: "You can help UMCOR respond to this powerful event by keeping all those affected in your prayers; by giving to UMCOR U.S. Disaster Response; and by working with your church community to provide UMCOR relief supplies, especially health kits." Forrester also asked for continued prayers for survivors and the efforts of first-responders.
UMCOR is also responding to fires in Chile, AIDS/HIV in Armenia and helping Ugandan women farmers.

FUMC United Methodist Women
Recently, our FUMC women attended a mission study led by Dixie Thompson. They were challenged to remember their call to live sacramentally and were led in taking in depth looks at the sacraments of baptism and communion. Participants spent time in a traditional teaching situation in the Fellowship Hall and then moved to other areas of the church to experience imaginative prayer time about the baptism of Jesus and the Last Supper. A day of great blessing ended in the chapel with the ladies renewing their baptismal vows, receiving communion, and receiving an anointing. The day was a very spiritual and moving experience.
The UMW would like to express their thanks to Dixie Thompson, Linda Gustafson, Faye Smithwick, Sandy Rogers, Jamie Wiggins, Dave Henclewski, Dan Smithfield, Bob Thompson, Chris Fisher and Jesse Branom. They contributed their time and talents and produced a very meaningful and memorable experience.
