 | Lily Elefteriadou, Ph.D. Professor & Director, UFTI/STRIDE |
Happy Holidays to you and your families! I look forward to seeing many of you at our annual UFTI & STRIDE reception during TRB, on Monday, January 12, 5:30-7:30 pm (see full invitation below). As in previous years, we have selected several students of our STRIDE affiliated universities to present posters on their innovative research, and we will award first, second, and third place awards to participating students. Research and education projects initiated in 2012 are now being completed (see our website for final reports and teaching materials) and we are exploring various options for technology transfer opportunities. We would be happy to work with you to arrange for webinars and workshops to present the results of our work. With best wishes for a healthy and happy 2015! Sincerely,
Lily Elefteriadou, Ph.D. Professor & Director UF Transportation Institute/STRIDE

STRIDE Researchers Developing GIS-based Tool for Teaching Crash Prediction Methods to Transportation Professionals
Dr. Ilir Bejleri and Dr. Siva Srinivasan of the University of Florida, are developing an instructional tool that uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to predict crashes on roads using methods of the Highway Safety Manual (HSM). The tool will train current and future professionals on the underlying theory behind these methods so they can run analysis of streets that have potential traffic safety issues and create countermeasures for addressing them.
