"In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand and we will understand only what we are taught" ~ Babe Dioums

Happy Summer!
Stay cool & beat the heat! Visit Mt. San Jacinto riding the historic Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and expect temperatures 40 degrees cooler than the desert valley floor.  Enjoy the Night Hikes & Star Parties offered throughout the summer months at The Wildlands Conservancy's Whitewater & Oak Glen Preserves, Santa Rosa San Jacinto National Monument, and Joshua Tree National Park! Check the CREEC Region 10 Calendar for all the dates you and your family can join the fun!

There are a lot of great educator training events happening this Summer!
Check the CREEC Region 10 Events Calendar for events, including the PEAK training sessions for educators grade K-2 on Aug. 2nd and grades 3-5 on Aug. 3rd, and more!

Please share this newsletter with your fellow teachers and colleagues.

We are here to support you!

It's going to take a village to raise an environmentally literate California.

~ Your Region 10 Coordinator, Jen Futterman

Summer TIP: How to cool down using Yogic breathing:
Either make a taco tongue and breathe through your tongue like a straw, or purse your lips and breathe, sipping air over the tongue, then close your mouth at the top of your inhalation and exhale through the nose. It works like a swamp cooler (evaporative cooling) and the same way a dog cools down. Be well!
