RIMS Region 10 Newsletter
Spring 2016 Earth Day Celebration Edition

Happy Spring!

"The Earth Laughs in Flowers" ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Although everyday is Earth Day for us nature lovers, Spring is the season when we most often gather together in our communities to honor the Earth, celebrate the wonders of Nature and unite in our efforts to protect the Environment.  The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970 in the United States, and in 1990 Earth Day events began to be organized internationally. Now, Earth Day is observed in over 190 countries across the world. In the United States, April is often called Earth Month. Spring festivals extend throughout May and culminate on June 5th with World Environment Day, a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

There are a lot of great local events happening this Spring!
Remember to check out the CREEC Region 10 Events Calendar to find out about ALL of the many local events celebrating the Earth, and great Environmental Education opportunities being offered throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties! Some events require registration in advance, so check back often to make sure you catch them early ☺

Please share this newsletter with your fellow teachers and colleagues.

We are here to support you!

It's going to take a village to raise an environmentally literate California.
