NEEF's National Environmental Education Week; "Greening STEM: Rooted in Math" is April 17-23, 2016 (Earth Day is April 22!)
NEEF's 12th annual National Environmental Education Week (EE Week), sponsored by Samsung, inspires environmental learning among K-12 students, and beyond, with EE events and projects taking place across the country in classrooms, after-school clubs, parks, aquariums, museums, and more. We invite environmental educators of all kinds, teaching any age, to take part in the nationwide celebration by registering their existing or new events, field trips or projects happening on or around April 17-23, 2016 (including Earth Day)

Join us as we explore the Santa Barbara Channel, Marine Protected Areas, and life's enabling substance, water. This secondary teacher workshop weaves NGSS three-dimensional teaching into the EEI Curriculum, a proven curricular tool, with support from NOAA's Principles of Ocean Literacy. Teachers leave with research-based planning tools that, when implemented with integrity, will bring immediate benefits to students and our coastal oceans. Ample time for collegial co-planning is built into this workshop even as we explore using the Sanctuary, coast and islands as our classroom. Science to Stewardship in the Sanctuary Workshop

Over the past year, the National Wildlife Federation has been working on monarch butterfly recovery efforts through both its' education and conservation programs. In addition, Eco-Schools USA has created a suite of resources for educators working on NWF Schoolyard Habitats� and Monarch Recovery with their students, which includes curriculum resources, citizen science opportunities, case studies, native plant guides, a guide to for creating habitat and a who's who in the monarch field. Check it out and get your students outside creating habitat for monarchs and all pollinators.

NEEF, with major funding support from the Mitsubishi Corporation Foundation for the Americas (MCFA), is offering funding for teachers, after-school programs, and nature organizations for projects that support the integration of Greening STEM into current or new programming or curriculum. Deadline is April 5, 2016. To find out more go to NEEF website: NEEF Green STEM Grant
Average Grant amounts will range from $500 - $1,000.
Allowable Expenses: Grants funds can be used to cover costs associated with delivering programs (e.g., curriculum/materials development, field trips, program supplies, transportation, professional development, etc.), as long as the result of the funding creates lasting impact beyond the single event/use.
