The California Environmental Education Foundation, in partnership with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), invites educators who teach students in grades 4-12 at schools in Los Angeles County, to participate in an engaging three-Saturday Teacher Institute utilizing investigation-focused pedagogy to maximize collaborative learning in environmental education and place-based stewardship.
Three Saturdays: February 6; March 12; May 21, 2016

This two day AP-level workshop is an in-depth rainwater harvesting course required for those seeking ARCSA Accredited Professional (AP) status. This course provides attendees with knowledge for rainwater harvesting, both active and passive, design for both outdoor and in-home rainwater use, sanitation for potable uses, rules and regulations, guidelines, business management, project planning, site planning and installation, safety, system construction and maintenance.

Join us as we weave Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) and Cross Cutting Concepts into the engaging content (DCIs) already featured in two outstanding and proven curricular tools: Project Wet and California's place-based EEI. We will use 3 example lessons to illustrate how NGSS style three-dimensional learning looks, sounds, & feels in real classrooms as we learn how the Water Replenishment District manages groundwater in the Los Angeles Basin.

Meet Hippo Works: Eco Themed Animation
Hippo Works, an eco kids animation studio in Venice, CA, has created a half-hour cartoon, game, and eBook (with Next Gen and Common Core Standards) to help educators teach and inspire kids about the climate and how to help make a difference.
Simon Says "Save The Climate!" has been featured nationally at NASA, Green Festivals, and at the UN's Climate Week. The program is offered for free or by donation. Click to see the trailer and reviews, your students will love it!
