Today is the 45th Anniversary of Earth Day. As Environmental Educators we celebrate Earth Day every day and are so very grateful for the planet that sustains us. We are honored to be part of environmental education efforts that in turn sustain the Earth. Here are current programs to enrich this Earth Day . Solutions to 21st century environmental challenges often result from STEM knowledge and skills. Hands-on environmental education projects enrich STEM learning and offer an exciting opportunity to engage more students in STEM (see the STEM EXPO below for a great opportunity to engage in local STEM programs). Science provides the tools we need to better understand the environment. This year, EE Week is excited to explore these connections to help educators find the most effective and engaging ways environmental themes can be used to enrich science education. . .

The movement to green our school grounds and connect children with nature has taken an important leap forward. The California state assembly adopted a new resolution that encourages school districts to design and construct schoolyard green spaces and use them to teach academic curricula outdoors. . . .
