Today is the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. As Environmental Educators we celebrate Earth Day everyday and are so very grateful for the planet that sustains us. We are honored to be part of environmental education efforts that in turn sustains the Earth. If we take care of the Earth, it will take care of us. Here are three program highlights that you can utilize in your environmental education work. More can be found on the CREEC Network website www.creec.org including events for the Living Schoolyard in Region 8.
1. National EE Week with the theme of Greening STEM - Surrounded by Science.
2. Living Schoolyard Month of May
3. Environmental Education Teacher Training on August 3 & 4 for Region 8
Thank you for caring enough to teach, to motivate, and to inspire others to also care.

Solutions to 21st century environmental challenges often result from STEM knowledge and skills. Hands-on environmental education projects enrich STEM learning and offer an exciting opportunity to engage more students in STEM. Science provides the tools we need to better understand the environment. Through the scientific process, we observe, test, analyze and advance our knowledge of the world. This year, EE Week is excited to explore these connections to help educators find the most effective and engaging ways environmental themes can be used to enrich science education. . .
