Summer Opportunities Galore!
Earth Day Celebrations and Resources!
 
Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Celebration to feature annual SWEP Student Trashion Show
 

The Tahoe Truckee Earth Day celebration is April 18th in Squaw Valley and local students from the Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships (SWEP) will display their creativity in closing the resource loop. Students design and create cutting edge fashion from materials otherwise destined for the landfill or recycling plant and showcase them in the annual TRASHION SHOW. Tuolumne River Institute for HS Science Teachers

July 13-15, 2015

The UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences invites you on a 3-day raft trip and multidisciplinary study of the Tuolumne River. Have fun on the river while working with UC Davis scientists. Come home prepared to lead your students in assessing your local watershed and exploring natural resource science careers.

Sacramento Valley Floodplains Ecology Teacher Institute June 24th - 26th, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. each day

This 3-day institute includes field trips, curriculum training, career panel, and more-- all around the theme of floodplains ecology, environmental science, agriculture and water management. Participants earn a $200 stipend plus Project WET and EEI curriculum resources.

RESTORE Institute for Teachers July 20th-24th, 8:30-4:00 M-Th; 8:30-12:00 F, Soil Born Farms, Sacramento

This Schoolyard Habitat Program training will get you excited and ready to teach your students about native plants, wildlife, and more using your schools' outdoor spaces as your classroom!

Forestry Institute for Teachers

The goal of FIT is to provide K-12 teachers with knowledge, skills and tools to effectively teach their students about forest ecology and forest resource management practices. Register one of these week-long residential institutes in one of three beautiful spots in Northern CA in June or July!

For Students

Range Camp is an awesome summer opportunity for students ages 15-18 interested Natural Resources and Ag. June 21-26 in Half Moon Bay. This residential program includes hands-on lessons in native flora and fauna, soils, foresty, GPS/GIS, riparian habitats, and more! Plus a trip to the beach and making friends from around the west. Apps are due April 24, but accepted later as long as spots are available and all paperwork is received.
