Region 7 Newsletter
Spring & Summer 2015

Coordinator Message
Another Drought Year Prompts a Spring of Water Education

Huntington Lake Summer 2014

With the water crisis at the forefront of everyone's mind these days, Environmental Education Providers are offering plenty of professional development to assist you with teaching all about relevant water issues.  Capitalizing on the opportunity to engage students with current events, there will be a myriad of opportunities from workshops, summer institutes, island excursions and student contests, to full-scale water education exhibits at the Big Fresno Fair.  This newsletter is full of teacher and student opportunities, some of which are FREE.  Starting in March and running through the fall, take advantage of learning all about water conservation in a relevant way.  Several offerings will even take place in and around some of California's iconic waterways.  In addition, there is an Environmental Education Provider meeting in April.  Many of these workshops and institutes include free curriculum and stipends!

In addition, with the foothills awash in wildflowers don't forget to take a look at the Region 7 calendar.  There's a wildflower walk or hike just about every Wednesday and Saturday this spring.  So, take a moment to peruse this spring's newsletter and decide how you might augment your curriculum, enjoy the beauty of the Sierra and help your students to conserve water for all.
