Welcome from Tanya
Happy New Year! We’d like to welcome Shannon Gordon as our new Statewide CREEC Coordinator. “Shannon began working for the California Department of Education (CDE) in 2013, and since that time she has been highly instrumental in the development, adoption, and rollout of the California Next Generation Science Standards. Her passion for, and background in, Environmental Education prompted her to apply for CDE’s Program Consultant position for Environmental Education.” We’re excited to have this talented educator leading our team!
As I am preparing for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), I find myself reviewing a number of books, articles, websites and power-points. Some seem too simple with not enough information to help me understand the changes to come. Some are so filled with technical and intellectual jargon, that I wonder who they are written for. How can I keep up with all of the “pre-views” of NGSS without being bogged down? . . .
Greetings and Happy New Year fellow CREEC members! I write not only as CREEC's Region 2 Outreach Assistant but with my Outdoor Education For All! (OEFA!) Steering Committee member hat on. Keeping in the spirit of celebration, I'd like to share some of what we accomplished in 2014.

The Butte County Resource Conservation District (BCRCD) has partnered with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to coordinate the 30th Annual Nature Bowl for Butte County. The Nature Bowl is a science based educational program designed to increase students' ecological knowledge and conservation literacy. . .
