Cal Water H2O Challenge
Important Deadline: January 27, 2015
Cal Water H2O Challenge is a project-based, environmentally-focused competition for 4th through 6th grade classrooms. Designed in conjunction with North American Association for Environmental Education and WestEd K-12 Alliance, this competition is aligned with Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. The Cal Water H2O Challenge offers a unique opportunity to develop an understanding of environmental principles.

Keep California Beautiful K-12 Recycling Challenge

The Keep California Beautiful K-12 Recycling Challenge is a California Schools Recycling Competition aimed at educating and engaging our teachers, students and staff in daily recycling opportunities at their school location.
The benefits for the schools participating are both educational and financially beneficial in the way of $12,000 in cash awards for schools, lowering refuse costs at each location, promoting California’s Goal of reaching 75% diversion by 2020 and the encouraging the recycling lifestyle of today whether at school, home or work. Each participating school will receive a certificate of participation and winning schools, based on a per capita basis, will be presented their awards at KCB State Press Conference at our State Capital during Earth Week 2015.
Green Ribbon School Awards Reminder
Application Deadline: December 29, 2014
In California, nominations for the award are made by the California Department of Education (CDE), with technical assistance from other state and federal agencies. To be considered for an ED-GRS nomination, follow the online application process described in the directions documents below. CDE may nominate up to four schools and one school district for ED-GRS. If your school or district is selected as a California nominee, CDE staff will work with you to submit the nominee presentation form and package to ED for consideration. State nominees are announced by CDE in February, confirmed by ED in April, and celebrated in a Washington, D.C. award ceremony in July.
The application cycle for 2014-15 began on September 5, 2014 and will remain open until December 29, 2014. Visit the link below for a link to the application and more information:
