As fall comes, our region has wonderful opportunities for environmental education. We have hiking trails both in the valley and the foothills, and nice, warm evenings for star and bird watching. We have fascinating, environmental issues to explore happening right now with the fires and the drought. Bring environmental education to your school by taking full advantage of the green spaces around your schoolyard and your neighborhood. Make lessons relevant by discussing the drought and ways for your students to help their families conserve water. Most of all, use science as a tool for learning and fun in the classroom.
With the CREEC Network you can find opportunities in environmental education for professional development and for student enrichment. Visit the CREEC website for conferences, grants, contests and the Region 6 calendar of events.
