NGSS Rollout Workshop #1 for S. CA Providers

Are you curious about the Next Generation Science Standards? Environmental and Science Education Providers are invited to this free one-day workshop in Costa Mesa, CA.

This workshop will help guide your planning process around the NGSS. You will learn from experts who have been involved in the planning and delivery of the NGSS Rollout symposia for teachers. The content has been modified to meet Providers' needs to ensure parallel processes with those recommended by the CA Dept. of Ed.

Introduction to NGSS 101-Light: Familiarize yourself with the National Research Council's "A Framework for K-12 Science Education" and the development, intent, and design of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) adopted by California. Learn how to read the architecture of the NGSS and example key components.

OR

Advanced Introduction to NGSS 102-Light: Delve deeper into the intent and design of NGSS and some of its supporting appendices, analyze key instructional shifts, and reflect on how to adapt available resources to assist in planning for instructional changes.

11:15 - 11:30 a.m.: Break

11:30 - 12:45 p.m.: NGSS 200: Resources, Tools, Action Steps and Suggested Timeline for Providers

12:45 - 1:30 p.m.: Light Lunch / Questions / Networking. Possible guest speaker.
