Common Core & NGSS: A Perfect Fit for the Environment

For those of us who have been around a while, we always knew that the environment, nature, and animals were a natural way to hook children. Using the environment as the theme to connect multiple subjects was a sensible way to engage student interest. Subjects like science, history, engineering, language arts and math could all be brought to life through the lens of the environment.
Now with the implementation of Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, using environmental education and regional EE organizations to help support and partner with schools is a win-win for student success. And the resources are already available and easy to find at CREEC.org. In fact, this newsletter highlights several EE professional development opportunities available this summer and examples of successful partnerships. Maybe, I will see you at one this summer. Meanwhile, don’t forget to enjoy the time off!
