Serving Imperial and San Diego Counties
Coordinator's Message

Happy New Year from CREEC!

As we approach a new year, many of us are wondering what changes we will make to become better educators for our students.  It is wonderful to see how many dedicated formal and informal educators we have in our region!

I hope that you all take some time to relax and enjoy your families before diving into new experiences in 2014.  CREEC is here to support you as you look for new ways to reach out to students and teach Environmental Science in the coming year!

Happy Holidays!

Nature Education Providers working together with NGSS!

The many amazing nature education programs in San Diego and Imperial Counties have begun coming together to study the Next Generation Science Standards!  These providers are working to learn about the performance expectations and apply NGSS to their own programs in order to support the work of educators in the region.

It has been a wonderful experience to work with such enthusiastic people and we are all looking forward to our continued efforts to build a strong environmental education program across the San Diego region!

School-yard and NGSS based nature lessons!

The San Diego Children and Nature Collaborative has introduced a new series of nature lessons available for educators!

All lessons, like the one at left, are based on NGSS and are created to be implemented in the school yard itself.

This is a fantastic opportunity to remind your students that nature is around them everywhere, not just on a hike or at the zoo.
