ChangeScale Releases Bay Area Environmental Education Collaboration
Vision Statement!
Drawing on input from a range of organizations including the California Academy of Sciences, Nature Bridge, the Lawrence Hall of Science, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, Stanford University and other partners, the vision statement defines the need for inclusive, high-quality, interdisciplinary environmental education focused on addressing complex issues affecting our world.

The NGSS for Environmental Education Organizations January 22, 2014
Join CREEC Region 4 and the San Francisco 4s Collaborative to learn about the newly adopted Next Generation Science Standards and investigate ways to empower students as stewards through service-learning, citizen science, action civics and other skill building strategies.
As schools across California begin to implement the newly adopted Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards, Environmental Education organizations will need to adapt to meet the needs of teachers and students alike. Luckily, the new standards represent a great opportunity to engage students in meaningful investigations and skill building designed to prepare them for college, career, and civic life.3:00-5:00pm, January 22 at 1202 Ralston Ave in the Presidio. Compost Con January 25, 2014

Zero Waste Youth Convergence March 16, 2014
Save the Date! The 2nd Annual Zero Waste Youth Convergence returns on Sunday, March 16th. The event brings together students in middle school, high school and college along with young professionals addressing a range of environmental challenges for a day of networking and leadership training. (Take a look at last year's event).

Green Schools National Conference March 27-29, 2014
This year, the Green Schools National Conference comes to Sacramento, CA. The conference, which last year attracted more than 1,200 participants, will address various topics related to our theme "Working Together for Healthy, Sustainable Schools". Leaders from across the country will share best practices and work to define solutions to address barriers to transforming all schools into green, healthy, and sustaining learning communities. Contra Costa County Fish and Wildlife Propagation Fund Grants
Deadline: January 6, 2014
The Contra Costa County Fish and Wildlife Committee is pleased to announce that completed funding applications are now being accepted for consideration for the Contra Costa County Fish and Wildlife Propagation Fund. The Fish and Wildlife Committee strongly encourages applications related to improving habitat, scientific research, and in addition, as a continued, additional focus for 2014, the Fish and Wildlife Committee wishes to fund high value, low-cost public education projects related to the scientific principles of fish and wildlife conservation. The grant must benefit the fish and wildlife resources of Contra Costa County. Last year, grants were awarded to 11 projects and ranged from $160 to $19,140. Complete grant details.
California Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) Grants
Deadline: January 16, 2014
The NOAA California Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) Program provides funds to support environment-based education throughout the watersheds of San Francisco Bay, Monterey Bay, and Santa Barbara Channel. $800,000 in funding is available in award amounts up to $60,000. Coastal Art and Poetry Contest
Deadline: January 31, 2014
The California Coastal Commission invites California students in kindergarten through 12th grade to submit artwork or poetry with a California coastal or marine theme to the annual Coastal Art & Poetry Contest. Up to ten winners will be selected to win $100 gift certificates to an art supply or book store. Students may have their work featured on Commission web pages and materials, and winning entries will be exhibited throughout the state. EPA is welcoming applications from public school teachers (K-12) for the third annual Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Education. The award recognizes outstanding K-12 teachers and their local education agencies nationwide for excellence in integrating environmental education into their lessons and connecting students with their communities and the natural world. Winners will receive $2,000 to support their professional development in environmental education and each winner's school will also receive a $2,000 award to help fund environmental education activities and programs that support the teacher.
