Winter 2013 | CREEC Region 11
News
Welcome to the cooler, shorter days of late fall and early winter.

In this issue of the CREEC-LA Newsletter I'd like to give you an update on No Child Left Inside. Here in Los Angeles the collective environmental educators have been following this initiative for several years.

NO CHILD LEFT INSIDE LEGISLATION MOVES FORWARD

The No Child Left Inside movement in the United States seeks to encourage and provide funding for environmental education. Its goals include the enhancement of environmental literacy between kindergarten and 12th grade and fostering of understanding, analysis, and solutions to environmental challenges.

This summer, the NCLI bill was re-introducted into Congress on Tuesday, July 16th, with bipartisan support.

The legislation has helped to propel environmental education in the U.S. forward by inspiring the development of state Environmental Literacy Plans (ELPs), and is now before the 113th Congress. The bill has a long way to travel, but this introduction is a critical step on the way to becoming a cornerstone of EE funding for the field.

Many thanks to the NCLI Coalition and to all of you who helped support this effort. If you would like to join the coalition please visit this surveymonkey link.

Sincerely,

Candice Dickens-Russell
