A Message from your CREEC Regional Coordinator

Happy Fall!

As temperatures (hopefully) begin to cool and school in back in full swing the CREEC-LA Network is starting another year of environmental education and support here in Los Angeles County.

I'd like to introduce our new newsletter format, which makes it easy to subscribe to the newsletters you are interested in, and to share with colleagues.

I would also like to introduce the all-new CREEC.org website which is completely re-tooled for the 2013-2014 school year!

If you are a Teacher, use the new site to find programs, EE activities, exhibits and events in our region and across the state, searching by grade, topic, EEI unit or standard, to find environmental education resources you need and want.

If you are an EE provider, this a great new way to connect with schools and other providers.  I hope you'll all please visit CREEC.org to create a master account for your organization and post your programs so teachers can find them.  Once you have a master account, you can post your events to our calendar and upload yor flyers which will now reach more teachers than ever!

This will be a great year for environmental education. The EEI (Education and the Environment Initiative) is now correlated to Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standard correlation is coming soon. It is so exciting to have such a wonderful tool for teaching standards to mastery using the environment as the context. As your CREEC Coordinator I am happy to give presentations to schools and districts on how to use this valuable tool, as well as how to get free printed units for your classroom (a $250 value!). Please feel free  to contact me for more information or to schedule your school's presentation.

Best wishes to everyone a wonderful new school year!

Sincerely,

Candice Dickens-Russell
