Greetings!

Summer has unfortunately come to an end, can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday I was planning my annual Lobster Bake on Cape Cod! With the fall and winter months ahead, this edition of the Davies Family Selections Wine & Spirits newsletter will bring you up to speed on the latest and greatest from my portfolio.

Cheers!

Amisfield

Still savoring the memories from the royal family visit in the spring of 2014 during which William and Kate sipped on the 2012 Pinot Noir, Amisfield has since harvested unique and impressive whites including the 2013 Pinot Gris and 2014 Sauvignon Blanc.

Each scoring 90 points in the forthcoming October 2015 issue of Wine & Spirits magazine, both the Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc are worthy of a spot in your wine collection this fall. In addition to a glowing review, the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc was also designated as a "Best Buy," signifying the wine's quality as an exceptional value for the price. Be sure to pick up a few bottles and check out the October issue!

Bravo, Amisfield!

Bacio Divino
Single vineyard Cabernets are music to our ears when thinking about Bacio Divino's portfolio of Janzen wines. From the venerable and highly rated To-Kalon Vineyard to the impressive Cloudy's Vineyard and Missouri Hopper counterparts, each single vineyard Cabernet received 91+ ratings in the August 2015 issue of the Connoisseurs' Guide to California WineTo view existing shelf talkers featuring Wine Advocate ratings, visit our Trade Resources page.

Congratulations, Bacio!

Janzen To-Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon
Rating: 93, Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: This powerful, full-sized youngster is absolutely rife with incisive Cabernet fruit and claims an abundance of loamy, cola-like complexities as well. It is slightly supple and quite full on the palate and shows a tag-end of heat to its nominally tannic finish, yet its ragged edges are not out of keeping with expectations for a young Cabernet Sauvignon, and its depth and keen focus are the hallmarks of a serious, eminently age-worthy effort that will grow for years.

Janzen Cloudy's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Rating: 91, Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: Starting out in the nose with a wealth of sweet oak piled high atop a full measure of very deep and well-defined, distinctly currant fruit and laced with complexing elements of briar, black tea and loamy soils, the Cloudy's Vineyard bottling delivers persistent, very potent, varietal flavors that stay in fine focus even as high ripeness makes its mark. Like its cellar mates, it is a wine that makes no apologies for ripeness, but it is steady and structured with tightening tannins signaling fine potential for age. It is so richly fruited that it should be drinkable in as few as five years, but it is likely to be far better once another eight to ten have passed.

Janzen Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Rating: 91, Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: The 2012 Missouri Hopper comes from a lot that proves that structure and size are not antithetical, and this weighty wine toes the line of being almost, but not quite, over the top. It is full and obviously extracted, and it fights with both tannin and heat, but it is so deep in concentrated, cassis-like fruit that it succeeds handily. Its early inklings of briar, loam, graphite and dried flowers are harbingers of increased complexity to come, and, while an admittedly brash youngster, it is in all ways a serious Cabernet Sauvignon that will reward a lengthy stay in the cellar.

B Cellars
Out with the old and in with the new -- B Cellars' 2013 Ehrlich Vineyard Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Blend 26 have been released, hot on the heels of its previous, highly-rated vintages scored by Wine Enthusiast and Wine SpectatorSee our Trade Resources page to download shelf talkers.

2012 Ehrlich Vineyard Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Rating: 93, Wine Enthusiast: This richly-concentrated, vineyard-designated wine is undeniably in balance. It has a cavern of blackberry and jammy cherry at its core, which simultaneously buzzes in minerality before finishing in a dusting of cocoa and black pepper. The tannins are fine and integrated, providing a generosity of texture that should mellow over time. Cellar through 2027.

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Blend 26
Rating: 94, Wine Spectator: Big and elegant, this is centered on juicy wild berry, vanilla, mocha and creamy oak flavors. Polished and refined, with supple, fine-grained tannins amid the raspberry and boysenberry notes on the finish. Drink now through 2028.

Stay tuned for the 2013 ratings; they are sure to be just as impressive!

Croix Estate
Renowned Napa winemaker, Kirk Venge, has done it again with Croix Estate, his most innovative, exciting and promising new project to date. Croix is a collection of super-premium wines that showcase the infinite beauty and prestige of California wine with its first releases from the Russian River Valley including two outstanding 2012 vintages -- a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir.

2012 Starling Morelli Roost Chardonnay
This premium Chardonnay boasts raw honey, marmalade, fresh citrus zest, toasted pine nuts, rocky flints, all spice and toasted oak on the nose with tastes of island ripe pineapple, apple, stone fruit, and crisp pear that draw you in for another taste.

2012 Old Manzana Slope Pinot Noir
A bold and broad Pinot Noir, this vintage provides an aromatic concentration of sweet earth, rose water, black cherries and allspice. While the palate is exotic and expansive, it is focused with tongue-curling acidity.

Croix's beautiful and meticulous wines mirror the outside packaging, which has successfully earned a nomination for the Most Innovative Package at the Wines & Vines Packaging Design Competition during its annual industry conference.

Welcome to the family, Croix!

Eagle Glen
As the second installment in my personal brand, Eagle Glen, I'm excited to announce the arrival of my 2013 Chardonnay! This Carneros Chardonnay is sourced from an impressive and well-known Napa Valley vineyard that has resulted in early and promising success.

Slowly fermented and aged in premium French Oak, the Eagle Glen Chardonnay has lifted floral aromas of violet and honeysuckle upon opening. These flavors lead to a rich mouthfeel full of tropical fruit notes with a nutty complexity and decadent, mineral finish, making it a perfect wine to pair with fish, chicken, creamy pasta and cheese-based salads.

The 2013 Eagle Glen Chardonnay is a limited supply batch and will go fast due to its supreme designation and origin. Don't miss out! To download shelf talkers for Eagle Glen Chardonnay, visit our Trade Resources page.

Venge Vineyards
Much like B Cellars' new 2013 releases, the release of Venge Vineyard's 2013 Bone Ash Cabernet Sauvignon and 2013 Silencieux Cabernet Sauvignon are bound to impress. Typically some of Venge's most lauded varietals, this is the first time new vintages of these Cabernets are being released in the fall. The 2013 Bone Ash Cabernet is already gaining praise from the critics and we anticipate this being one of many glowing reviews for these two vintages:

2013 Bone Ash Vineyard Caabernet Sauvignon
Rating: 96-98, Wine AdvocateThis vintage reveals sweet blackberry and blueberry fruit, a creamy, opulent, voluptuous texture, and incredible richness and length. It should drink well for 20-25 years.

These wines will surely not linger for long. See our Trade Resources page to download shelf talkers for this 2013 Bone Ash review and a previous 2012 Silencieux Cabernet Sauvignon rating. Get them while you can and stay tuned for more 2013 vintage ratings.
