Would you agree that the dreams, needs, and great potential of

Harlem's young people, not to mention the future of our community,

are worth at least an hour a week of your time?

THE TRUTH

Thousands of Harlem children and teens need mentors. Thousands of Harlem adults could become mentors. Wonderful mentoring organizations and programs exist right here in our community. . . . Why, then, with so many potential mentors nearby, do most mentoring sites have a hard time persuading more Harlemites to step up and become mentors? Most of the people I know who could but don't mentor say they would consider mentoring . . . except they "don't have time for it."

Together, we need to start remixing our "don't have time fors" into "will make time fors." The Harlem Mentoring Fair is one of the best opportunities you'll have this year to do so.

MENTORING FAIR FORMAT

The Harlem Mentoring Fair is organized "college-fair style." Attendees will have an opportunity to visit the tables of all organizations that interest them and gather information on specific program needs and expectations, application processes, and start dates (for individuals who are screened, and ultimately selected, to become mentors).

TRANSPORTATION AND ACCESSIBILITY

The nearest subway stop is the 3-train station at 145th Street, a four-minute walk from Minisink Townhouse. The M7, M102, and the BX19 buses stop just two minutes away. Minisink Townhouse is wheelchair accessible.

OUR community. OUR youth. OUR future. OUR responsibility. OUR privilege.
