Where the County Reads, Where the County Meets, Where the County Learns
Parker Hamilton
MCPL is continuing our strategic goal of providing services beyond our walls. Our outreach efforts have led to the establishment of deposit collections for area beauty salons and barbershops; selected Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) senior housing units; and selected offices of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

three barbershop collections
Our first project under this initiative, Deposit Collection @ MCPL, is in collaboration with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Youth Council, Montgomery County, Maryland Branch. Deposit collections have been placed in six local barbershops and beauty salons so that children can read while they wait. These collections have books appropriate for ages 2 to 12.
