Your Gifts at Work:

We get asked all the time, "What exactly does PCEF do?" Hopefully, reading through our new 2013-2014 Annual Report will help answer that question!

The Annual Report details what we did last year, through stories and financials. It provides some examples of programs we funded in our 6 key areas of support - Early Childhood Education, STEM, the Arts, Academic Rigor, College and Career Readiness, and Teacher Development and Recognition.

We hope you will take a moment to read through it. As supporters of PCEF, we want you to know exactly how your money is being re-invested into students, teachers, schools, and classrooms. And, we want you to take a moment to celebrate some of the wonderful programs YOU helped deliver during the 2013-2014 school year.

Join our Celebration for Education!

It's a community party, voted Park City's Best. As Michelle Hathaway, manager of lululemon wrote, "I couldn't help but reflect on an idea that is simply genius: a relay where all ages are involved, your city trail system is used, you exercise not only with others but dressed in costumes surrounded by beautiful scenery, all while raising money! There's a great lunch, entertainment & a space to celebrate huge accomplishments, whether you were out running one leg or many, perhaps you were volunteering, way to go! You demonstrated to our youth the importance of community, collaboration, wellness & fun!"

Early-bird registration is going on now, with special discounts. Teams from 1 - 10 people can sign up, making it as easy or as challenging as you want! Don't wait - ANYONE can do this race, and join our Celebration for Education! Register at runningwithed.com

Preschool's EpicPromise!

Preschool registration for the 2015-2016 school year opens at the

end of February. Why is this important? Research shows the long-term effects of preschool are clearly beneficial. Not only

is the achievement gap minimized for children entering kindergarten, but high school graduation rates, years of education completed, and earned income are positively affected as well.

"The first year we had the District Preschool," notes teacher Debbie

Freeman, "Diego scored 12 out of 168 points on the initial assessment. By the end of year he scored all 168 points. He just shined. One day I noticed that someone had taken a video of me on an ipad, teaching a lesson. I thought it must've been one of our assistants, but then the camera turned around, and there was Diego smiling into it. He had never seen an iPad before preschool, and we had never taught the kids to take videos. He was one of our best readers by the end of the year." Today, he is thriving in 2nd grade.

Because of research and stories like this, PCEF has been proud to support Preschool since the beginning with significant funding, and bring in partners like Vail Resorts. PCEF Executive Director Abby McNulty states, "Vail's continual commitment to Preschool exemplifies their EpicPromise to 'support their local communities for a bright, sustainable future.' These 3 and 4 year-olds are our future here in Park City!"

And, United Way states, "If we really want to move the needle and meet the state's goal of a 90% high school graduation rate, preschool is the answer." We thank you, our donors, and Vail Resorts, for helping us fund such a critical program.
