Message from the Director

Dear Library Customer:

I am happy to report that a unique partnership, between the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library and local schools, is helping young students improve literacy skills. Fifteen children's librarians from eight branches and Main Library are completing a project intended to help children from low-literacy households develop the pre- and early-literacy skills they must have to become successful students. As part of the project, children's librarians present 15 storytimes to kindergarten and first-grade students in at-risk neighborhood schools. About 450 students in the Toledo and Springfield Local school districts are being served.

Our Library system is proud to play a role in the literacy of young students and looks forward to many more partnerships with local schools.

Sincerely,
Clyde Scoles
Library Director/Fiscal Officer
