| Alumni Spotlight - Steve Parke
|

EASTERN 1980 Collision Repair Technology/Upper Moreland High School graduate, Steve Parke, has been EASTERN's Collision Repair Technology Instructor since 2001. After completing his program at EASTERN he was employed as a technician and prior to his career shift to teaching, he was the foreman of Buckingham Collision & Towing.
Steve always had a strong interest in cars and decided to pursue the program at EASTERN to learn as much as possible about the collision industry while still in high school. He chose Collision Repair Technology because he wanted to focus on body work - such as fixing dents and painting.
As foreman at Buckingham Collision & Towing, Steve found that he enjoyed the teaching aspect of the job. When the position for a Collision Repair Technology Instructor at EASTERN opened, he felt it was the right time for a career shift. He then attended Temple University for his vocational teaching certification. Now he has successfully merged his love of collision repair and teaching.
"The education I received at EASTERN gave me the skills to be successful in the collision repair field," said Parke. "It also taught me how to communicate well with clients and coworkers. EASTERN can truly change a student's perspective and help give them a head start on fulfilling future goals."
Students in EASTERN's Collision Repair Technology program benefit from a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience needed to carry out repairs on motor vehicles. Students benefit from the use of Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair enhanced curriculum.

 | EASTERN Events - Cosmetology Students Compete to Create High Fashion Looks
| |
On July 22, 2014, EASTERN Cosmetology students participated in a competition in which they made their model look like a photo in a fashion magazine. EASTERN administration and staff members walked through the Cosmetology program looking at the styles and the photos which they were modeled after and voted on their top three styles. The top three winning looks were created by Melinda Morgan, an upcoming senior at Hatboro-Horsham High School; Abigail Solomon, an upcoming senior at Cheltenham High School; and Gabrielle Monterosso, an upcoming senior at Abington High School. The EASTERN Cosmetology students who competed are currently working towards the completion of their 1,250 required hours necessary in order to take the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology Exam.
"This competition really gave us a chance to see how well we could imitate a look in a magazine ad," said first place winner, Melinda Morgan. "The Cosmetology program at EASTERN is preparing us for successful careers in the field, and competitions such as this encourage us to be creative and think strategically."
EASTERN's Cosmetology program provides the skills necessary to begin a career in the cosmetology field. In Pennsylvania, as well as other states, cosmetologists and nail technicians must be licensed to practice in the field.
Congratulations to our first-place winner, Melinda Morgan (left), and her model, Tessa Inloes (right).
