 Alumna Spotlight - Aliyah Lustine

EASTERN 2011 Commercial Art/Cheltenham High School graduate, Aliyah Lustine, is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), and is currently preparing for entrance into VCU's School of the Arts. VCU's Graphic Design program in currently ranked the number one public university program, and the Art School is ranked the number one public art program in the country.  On March 5, she made the trip back to Pennsylvania to speak to EASTERN's current Commercial Art students at EASTERN about her VCU program.

After graduation from EASTERN, Lustine took a year off to attain work experience and traveled to Israel.  She was even the featured artist at an art show held at Or Hadash Synagogue's Stairway Gallery in Fort Washington last year.

Lustine was interested in art from a young age since her mom is also an artist.  Lustine's main passion is graphic design. In EASTERN's Commercial Art program and through her subsequent work experience,  Lustine has developed an impressive professional portfolio that she is submitting online next week  to VCU's Graphic Design program.

"EASTERN helped me prepare my portfolio and gave me a great foundation in drawing and graphic design. My Commercial Art program also provided me with the work ethic that I need to get my projects done and succeed in college. I have enjoyed coming back to EASTERN and speaking to the students about their college options."

EASTERN chose Lustine as its October 2010 Student of the Month. At Cheltenham High School, she was the October 2008 and October 2010 Student of the Month. Lustine is an accomplished photographer and graphic artist, with a growing portfolio of both photography and graphic design work. Ultimately, Lustine would like to work for a graphic design firm after college, and then hopes to open her own design agency - with a focus on advertising and packaging design.

EASTERN Events - New Twist to Annual Foundation Fundraiser
Please join the EASTERN Foundation on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 6- 9 p.m. for a silent auction and the Murder Mystery, Greased, performed by Without a Cue Productions.  Join the gang at Rydem High for a rollicking good time as they laugh, love and Bunny Hop while trying to avoid a killer intent on greasing Denny, Candy and the others who've gathered at the local malt shop. And when an ominous death threat arrives from a notorious hot rodder, past secrets emerge and the malt shop soon becomes a morgue...until that next Rock 'N' Roll record spins.

Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple - which includes a bidder number for the silent auction, the Murder Mystery show, and appetizers and desserts prepared and served by EASTERN's Culinary Art students.  Your ticket purchases directly benefit the EASTERN Foundation - which was created for the sole purpose of providing awards to deserving EASTERN students.
