William Mucker is the February 2013 Student of the Month at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove. He is in his second year of EASTERN's Protective Services program and a senior at Upper Dublin High School. The Student of the Month Award is sponsored by EASTERN's faculty, Joint Committee and the Willow Grove Rotary Club to highlight student excellence, success and service. Ten students each year are selected for this honor.
At EASTERN, William maintains high grades in his Protective Services program and is actively involved in SkillsUSA as the 2012 - 2013 SkillsUSA Protective Services Class Vice President and Treasurer. | Alumnus Spotlight - Tymere Davis
|
EASTERN 2012 Culinary Arts/Upper Dublin High School graduate, Tymere Davis, recently completed his first semester at Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) in the Hotel and Restaurant Management Associate Degree program. After completion of his MCCC program, Davis will pursue his Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Temple University on a partial scholarship for Track and Field. As a child, Davis became interested in cooking largely due to the great cooks in his family. In tenth grade, a friend of Davis's made him aware of the Culinary Arts program at EASTERN. Davis wanted to learn different techniques and cooking styles, and was interested in a more specific type of education in the culinary field. While Davis was a Culinary Arts student at EASTERN, he was recognized with the Shawn and Roger Graham Hospital Award at EASTERN's Awards Night ceremony in May 2012. He also volunteered his time and culinary talents for school and community events, such as the Upper Dublin Education Foundation Day. Davis ran track all through high school, and since MCCC does not currently have a track team, he runs unattached to a specific college or university. In December, Davis participated in the Armory Games in New York. Overall, he completed eighth in the hurdles. During his senior year of high school, Davis met with the Track and Field coach for Temple University, who invited him to come and train with his team during the summer, which he did and will do again this coming summer. "There are so many more opportunities available to you when you complete a career and technical program," said Davis. "It gives you an advantage in your career field and in college."
