Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service
I have always included the new Gartner Magic Quadrants for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service in my newsletters. The 2015 version just came out. Unfortunately this is getting boring, AWS is almost off the chart in the leaders quadrant and Azure is also in the leaders quadrant the same as last year. Most of the other providers are in the niche players quadrant. If you are interested in the public cloud I do think it is worth reading through to see how the market is evolving. Virtustream is one of the niche players in the Magic Quadrant discussed above and EMC just agreed to pay $1.2 in cash for them. This Bloomberg article describes the business terms and is a good summary of the transaction. This Venture Beat article has a good description of how Virtustream adds to EMC's hybrid cloud strategy. I think that EMC, more than other hardware providers, is putting together a good strategy for the future so that they are not nearly as focused on hardware.
