Welcome to the May Cirrostratus Group Newsletter.

Surveys are a great way to learn about industry trends and what others are doing. I've highlighted some recent surveys that I think are worthwhile.

Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service just came out, see the results below.

I'm always interested in hearing about any plans you have for SaaS or the Cloud and any challenges you are running into.

I believe that participating in industry surveys and reviewing the results are an excellent way to help think about cloud services and to understand how others are using cloud services. For the 4th year Northbridge Venture Partners is doing the Future of Cloud Computing Survey. Past years surveys have given good insight into important trends. I encourage you to participate in this year's survey.

A couple of months ago I recommended that you participate in MassTLC's survey on cloud pricing. The results of that survey will be presented at this webinar. If you are a MassTLC member this should be a worthwhile webinar.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service just came out. The results are unsurprising in some respects, AWS continues as a significant leader. However, Microsoft and Google are 2nd and 3rd respectively a significant accomplishment for both. GigaOM's take on the results was just published here, Venture Beat's thoughts are here and Forbes has the most factual view with a listing of vendors in each quadrant.
