Vitamin L Singers 2014
Help Vitamin L Raise $25,000
in Honor of its 25th Anniversary!

The Vitamin L Project  recently celebrated its 25th birthday with a community concert at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY. It was a lively, lovely celebration with birthday cake and great music.

In honor of its anniversary, Vitamin L has launched a crowd funding campaign to raise $1000 for every year that it has been encouraging children to be courageous, kind, and positive-minded. All funds will go to support Vitamin L's mission. The crowd funding campaign ends November 22, so HURRY and give here!

Vitamin L  is a pillar in our community, inspiring an entire generation of young people through positive character building songs, like "Walk a Mile" and "This is a Mighty Power."   Children, on stage and in the audience, absorb the messages in Jan Nigro's original songs that remind them to make healthy choices and have healthy relationships with themselves and others.

Jan and Janice Nigro of Vitamin L believe that there is a tremendous need to encourage the development of positive, universal values in children such as kindness, empathy, and respect. And they know from years of experience that music is a powerful medium through which to do so.

Garlic Planting Workshop

The Garlic Project, a collaboration between the Plantations Environmental Education Program for Sustainability (PEEPS) and the Durland Alternatives Library, presents a hands-on garlic planting workshop at the Plantations' Pounder Vegetable Garden  on Saturday, November 8th from 1:00-3:00 . All participants will be given garlic seed to take home and plant as well as the opportunity to learn more about garlic culture and uses.

Garlic grows exceptionally well in the Finger Lakes region. It can be grown without pesticides, and is very productive in a small space. It stores easily without an external energy source and has a long shelf life. Save seed and save money by replanting garlic every year, and enjoy your homegrown garlic year round.

The Garlic Project connects people to the food they eat through education, empowerment, and building community. Through the Garlic project we intend to add new planting sites throughout the community each year and get more people involved.

The program is free and open to all ages. The Pounder Vegetable Garden is located across the road from the Nevin Welcome Center. Pre-registration is required.

For more information please email Gary Fine at gmf5@cornell.edu or 607-255-6486.
