At the end of this class, you'll be familiar with earthquake, fire and tsunami, and the risks associated with each. You'll know how to protect your little ones, yourself and your belongings. Finally, you'll be able to identify basic things you can do today that will help your family be prepared and improve your resiliency after an emergency. You will be trained to hazard hunt around your home to identify potential dangers, develop a family communications plan, become familiar with areas in Los Angeles that are at risk for tsunami, learn important fire evacuation tips, receive basic fire extinguisher training, and much more.

Parents of toddlers in diapers are often uncertain as to how to begin the toilet training process. They often ask, "At what age should I begin to toilet train my child?" "How do I know if my child is ready?" "What method should I use?" This toilet-teaching workshop is designed to help parents learn the physiological, cognitive, emotional, social and verbal signs that indicate when your child is ready to learn how to use the potty. It will address the gentle, progressive steps to take in the toilet training process, and how to deal with resistance and problems that you may encounter along the way. We will discuss the disadvantages to trying to toilet train your child too early, and how to keep pressure and power struggles out of the process so that your child will be motivated for success.

Postpartum is a time to welcome and celebrate the newest member of your family while simultaneously navigating sleep deprivation and a storm of hormones. It shouldn't be a time to be confused and concerned about sex and contraception. During this class, we will discuss postpartum changes that can affect sex and sexuality. We will focus on contraception options for the postpartum and breastfeeding woman. This class is perfect for both pregnant women and new moms alike. Dr. Sara Twogood, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine and is a practicing Ob-Gyn for USC, seeing patients and delivering at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Feliz.
