Mommy & Me: Second Time Moms
Baby Education/Support Class
For babies born October-December 2013
Group starts at 9:30am
This unique mommy and me class is specifically geared toward issues facing second time moms. These include but are not limited to: handling your older child's feelings of jealousy, understanding the second-child syndrome, time management challenges, and helping your children to form a positive sibling relationship. 90-minute classes include songs, exercises, music and movement, as well as education, support and effective parenting techniques. As a licensed psychologist who specializes in early child development, I am a strong believer in parenting mindfully with awareness of what the present moment requires. Mindful parenting helps us to be present and attuned to our baby's inner world. My goal is that the class be both informative and fun. Moms develop close relationships with other moms, and babies receive their first social experience. Moms leave with confidence and trust in themselves, as well as a wonderful support system of friends.

This class offers mothers much more than a typical mommy and me class. Being a licensed psychologist who specializes in early child development, I am able to provide moms with the understanding of how their babies mature emotionally, cognitively, socially and physically. In addition, I help new moms adjust to the joys and challenges of parenting. I am a strong believer in parenting mindfully with awareness of what the present moment requires. Mindful parenting helps us to be present and attuned to our baby's inner world. My goal is that the class be both informative and fun. 90-minute classes include songs, exercises, music and movement, as well as education, support, and effective parenting techniques. Moms develop close relationships with other moms, and babies receive their first social experience. Moms leave with confidence and trust in themselves, as well as a wonderful support system of friends.

Have Milk, Will Travel: Adventures in Breastfeeding

We saw, among other things, a freshly minted newborn crawl up the chest of her mother to latch, ON HER OWN. And while they made sure to tell us how there might be issues - baby will favor one side, letdown may take some time, the first few days will be rough while your breasts get used to the suction - I was certain in my naivete' that I would be a breastfeeding all-star. I did buy some salve, convinced I'd never open it and would end up handing it down to my next new mom friend."
