Introduction to Breastfeeding
| |
with Jesse Zilberstein MA, MPA, IBCLC For soon-to-be-moms and dadsJuly 24th at 6:30pmProducing breast milk is natural, yet the art of latching the baby onto the breast is learned. This class is taught by Certified Lactation Consultants and provides clear, accurate breastfeeding information for the "soon-to-be" new mother. We cover breastfeeding expectations, strategies for success and how to avoid complications. Topics include breastfeeding techniques, various nursing positions and comfort holds, maternal diet considerations, nipple care, leaking, tips for Dad feedings, and the advantages of human milk over supplementation. Discussion includes the various breast pumps for purchase or rental. We answer all your questions, including the all-important one: "How do I know my baby is getting enough?" This is an interactive, 3-hour class and couples are encouraged to attend.

Ask Your Childcare Questions Here:
Visit our Facebook page to ask Westside Nannies your most burning
nanny-related questions. Each week, they will answer questions featured in our Class Newsletter published at the end of the week!
This week's question & answer:
Q: Our nanny is practically a part of our family, and we often keep her filled in on parts of our personal lives. However, she has started to open about her personal life, and it's become too much. How can we let her know that it's over-share?
A: Because of the complexity and unique dynamics of the relationship between a nanny and her employers, getting into personal life conversations is common issue. However, maintaining healthy boundaries is extremely important for your relationship in the long run, because once you become involved in your nanny's personal life and she becomes involved in yours, it's going to be an ongoing conversation. The best way to draw the line between work and personal life is to model appropriate questions by watching your own behavior and conversation topics. While it may seem tempting to open up about yourself to your nanny, this may only rub off as an excuse for her to open up about her own life. In the long run, keeping personal topics mum and conversing solely about childcare and petty life topics like the weather, movies, and music keeps things professional in the long run!
Have a thought about this question & answer? We'd like to know what you think. Click here to post your questions on our Facebook Page or email us here.
