Celiac and Gluten Sensitivity Research Update:
Ten Snippets from ICDS 2015

If you missed the 16th International Celiac Disease Symposium in Prague in June, you may enjoy perusing the ten studies I've highlighted on celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity. I chose studies that pertain to the average person on a gluten-free diet and created a "Take Home Point" for each. Check out the latest from researchers all over the world - it's a fascinating peak into what's hot in gluten-related research.   Read more

CAMP CELIAC 2015
  • 9th year of camp
  • Dozens of volunteers
  • Hundreds of individual and business donors
  • 300 happy campers (2 sessions)
Camp Celiac Video THIS is what it's like at Camp Celiac.

Molly Stone, a former camper and a longtime dedicated camp volunteer, wrote this note of thanks and posted this video she took of campers spontaneously singing "Don't Stop Believing."
"The Taylor Family Foundation has given us all something that we've never had before-the opportunity to feel normal for once, to not be the kid with the weird food, a chance to be around 150 people just like us. This place is simply magical, we are able to be ourselves without the worry that we usually have, so to Elaine Taylor and TTFF we thank you, thank you for doing what you do every day, thank you for this place that we love, thank you for making us feel normal.Celiac Camp is our favorite place, and reminds us to never stop believing in ourselves."

From our foundation to Molly: Thank YOU! You are an amazing community member who has brightened up countless lives. We love seeing our little campers grow up into leaders and volunteers giving back to our community.
For the back story on camp, watch this ABC7 News video on Camp Arroyo on its 25th anniversary, including a fascinating look at what it was like for kids with AIDS in the 1990s, and how it now serves dozens of groups of kids with different challenges (including Camp Celiac of course!). It's truly a community treasure.

We are seeking a Napa support group
co-leader!

The Celiac Community Foundation of Northern California runs a quarterly support group at Whole Foods in Napa. We are seeking a kind, organized and responsible local resident to co-lead the group.

You do not need to be an "expert," and you can be recently diagnosed or the parent of a child with celiac disease.  You do need to adhere to our mission of evidence-based support.

It's light duty, well supported by our foundation, and it is an essential role in our support network. For more information, please contact Jennifer Iscol jiscol@celiaccommunity.org.
