Many people ask me " Why can't I just start a gluten-free diet and see if I feel better? Why do I need to spend the money on testing? I just won't eat gluten if it makes me feel sick." I hope that the following points clarify why appropriate testing for celiac disease is important before starting a gluten-free diet or putting your child on one. I cannot stress enough the importance of testing for celiac disease. The screening is simple and inexpensive. The cost of

Summer Camps:


Northern California

Camp Celiac at Camp Arroyo  - Camp registration is just about full for both summer 2013 sessions. If you register now you will be on the waiting list for cancellations and still have a chance of going. The camp is located in the scenic foothills of Livermore, CA, and is administered by the Celiac Community Foundation of Northern California in a partnership with The Taylor Family Foundation. Each session is five days/four nights and costs only $25 due to the generosity of The Taylor Family Foundation, business sponsors and individual donors. Southern California

CDF Camp Gluten-Free at Camp Nawakwa  Registration for summer 2013 is open. The camp  is located in the beautiful San Bernardino Forest, and is administered by the Celiac Disease Foundation in partnership with Camp Fire. The camp costs $450 (financial aid available) and is open to ages 7-17. Visit the camp's website to learn more and register.
