Girl Scout New Year starts October 1st!
Make sure you're registered as a Girl Scout for the 2013-2014 year. Don't miss out on any fantastic opportunities! Register if you're a new Girl Scout, or a returning one, at www.girlscoutsccs.org/online-registration/.
 
Please Note: The current Girl Scout Membership year ends in Personify on Monday, September 30 at 12:00 AM ET. That means that online membership registrations for troop leaders renewing 2014 proformas through troop management should be concluded before Sunday, September 29 at 11:59 PM ET.  
  • Troop leaders will not have access to their troop(s) for the full day on Monday. When they click on the 'My Troops' tab in eBiz, a specialized maintenance page will appear that only affects troop management.  
  • Active 2014 Troop leaders will be able to access their troop(s) on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 and will see all active 2014 troop members.  
  • Family Managers will be unaffected and will continue to see their family members.
Troop Happenings 
Members of Troop 210 and Troop 513 from Ridgecrest folded sixty small flags and placed them in individual bags, along with a poem, to be given by Ridgecrest Branch of the American Legion to members of active-duty military. 
 
Troop 3053 helped made history in Ridgecrest! They started their own Community Garden in conjunction with "We Love Ridgecrest" and The Star Cheer group.

Program Aides learn to work directly with younger girls under the supervision of an adult Girl Scout in settings such as Troop activities, and Council or Service Unit events/day camps.

Meet Loralee Scherf, the new Product Program Specialist. From the Sierra Madre Girl Scout Council, she received her Bronze, Silver and Gold awards during her many years as a Girl Scout. As an adult, Loralee has been a troop leader, a co-leader and a cookie co-chair. Welcome, Loralee!
 
 
Our CEO, Cathy Ferguson, and John Richers (CEO of Boy Scouts Sequoia Council) visited with Vincente Sanchez Ventura, Consul of Mexico. The Consultate is having a 3-hour ZumbaThon at Riverpark on October 5. Check out We are Invited section on the right!
Dog-Friendly Volunteer Girl Scouts Needed! 
Looking for a group of high school Girl Scouts to volunteer to run the snack bar at a Doggie Flyball Tournament for the SPCA on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6. The Girl Scout Troop who volunteers gets to keep the profits.
If interested, please email Brenetta at [email protected] by 5:00 PM Friday, September 27. We will draw for the winner and contact them on Monday.

Girl Scouts Destinations are yearly trips that give older Girl Scouts and adults the opportunity to travel to major Girl Scout events and sites around the world.

Health and Fitness Camp Through Volleyball 

For her Gold Award, Abbie M. is hosting a Volleyball camp October 5 & 6 at Castle X Teen Center in Ridgecrest from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
Introduction to Flying for Future Pilots
 
Students 11 to 15 are invited to a 4 session class starting Saturday, October 5 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fresno State campus, to use computer cased flight simulation and equipment. Limited to 20 students per class.
Girl Scouts can be Video Game Developers! 

Girl Scouts of the USA partnered with the Dell Powering the Possible Youth Learning Initiative to release Be the Video Game Developer, an interactive experience that puts girls in the driver's seat of video game development.
