Girl Scouts find their inner artist at Fresno Art Museum's "Budding Artists of Summer"
34 Girl Scouts participated in a 3-day summer Art Camp where they studied different artists, and then became creative and created their own masterpieces.
This camp was hosted by the Fresno Art Museum and sponsored by the Bonner Family Foundation. One of the projects the girls did was self portraits with charcoal.

Girl Scouts and their families are invited to the FREE Family Day at the Fresno Art Museum on Saturday, August 17 from
11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Celebrate the summer with art, bubbles, and rock & roll! PLUS Girl Scout artwork will be on display!

Girl Scout Silver Award Spotlight

Lilarose J. and Ashlynn B. from Bakersfield Troop 4407 have been working hard on their Silver Award project H.O.P.P.E. (Helping Out People and Pets Everywhere). They are collecting pet food, nursing bottles, and toys for cats and dogs and donating these items to the SPCA, Jesus Shack street teams, and the Bakersfield Pet Food Pantry. The girls told us they received over 1500 pounds of food the first day!
The next collection date is THIS weekend, Saturday, August 17. Items can be dropped off at:
VONS (Stockdale & California, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) AND Tractor Supply (Rosedale & Calloway, 12:00 - 3:00 PM). Check out the flyer for more details.
101 Days of Summer Challenge
coming to an end!

The 101 Days of Summer Challenge for both Girl Scouts and adults is reaching the final days, and we have received our first submission: Girl Scout Mallory O. from Troop 3046. Mallory's mom wrote us a letter with pictures to give us a look at Mallory's summer. That letter can be found on our blog!
Troop Happenings

Girl Scout Troop 2155 from Taft is organizing "Operation Deployment". These girls are collecting tooth brushes, tooth pastes, sanitizers, foot powder and soaps; anything a military person may need while stationed overseas. This story was covered by ABC 23 News and can be found online here!

Troop 2930 from Coalinga earned their Bronze Award through their project "Helping Hands". These girls collected donated items for Fresno County Foster children, and had the support and help of many, including Avenal State Prison.

Troops 2227 and Troop 2385 from Clovis helped sort food donations for the Community Food Bank. The girls had a great time helping out in their community.
