If you know a dynamic women in Kern County, please nominate her for the Women Inspiring Girls, Kern County Award! Our Awards luncheon will be on October 4 in Bakersfield. The nomination deadline is May 1 and you can find the form here.

E-Biz is a great resource for all Troops, allowing the leader the opportunity to register more girls and adults to the Troop, verify that all of the girls and adults in the Troop are registered, and check contact information.
  • Early Bird packets are being distributed, beginning at the April 2013 Service Unit meetings.
  • If leaders are unable to make it to their Service Unit meeting, they should contact Melissa Soza at (800) 490-8653 ext.116 to arrange pick up.

Opportunity Drawings for Early Birds!

All members re-registered through the E-Biz system between April 1, 2013 and June 30, 2013 for the 2014 membership year will be entered into opportunity drawings. The sooner you re-register the sooner you are eligible to win! Drawings will be held each Friday between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM starting on April 19, 2013 and concluding on July 3, 2013.

Gold Awardee Haven wins again!

Gold Awardee Haven from Hanford won VFW Scout of the Year at the Regional Level and will now be competing at the State Level. Congratulations, Haven! Jordan King

Meet Jordan,  our new Communications Intern
Jordan King is a senior at Fresno State looking forward to graduating in May. A self-proclaimed list guru and coffee fanatic, she is majoring in Mass Communications Journalism with a minor in Deaf Studies. Jordan works at Fresno State as the Associated Students Inc. Communications Assistant, president of the school's Public Relations Student Society of America, and is the Director of Public Relations for the student run PR firm, TALK.
Troop Happenings
Squaw Valley - Troop 710 Troop 710 took the 2-hour 'Garden Tour' at Squaw Valley Herb Gardens, located 25 minutes east of Fresno. Some of the activities included: going on a flower hunt; pointing out bugs; learning what makes flowers smell; how lavender calms; sketching a flower; making a bouquet with a message in flowers; tasting teas; and creating a culinary hors d'oeuvre using herbs and flowers. From now through April 30, Girl Scout troops can visit the generationOn site here to access resources on how to take action against child hunger and report back on their work. For every service action reported, Arby's will donate a meal to a child struggling with hunger, up to 100,000 meals.
