December 2012

Greetings!

Welcome to our December 2012 Newsletter.  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, and best wishes for a prosperous 2013.

Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride Places order for PE9000C

Power & Energy Inc. (P+E) has received an order for a PE9000C Series purifier from The Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride at the University of Cambridge.  The micro-channel palladium purifier will be used to purify hydrogen for use in a new Aixtron MOCVD reactor.  The research team is focused on the cutting edge of GaN research via collaboration with universities and industries throughout the world.

The compact 9000C Series removes oxygen, moisture and carbon contamination to parts-per-trillion levels to assure a stable process regardless of source gas quality or flow rate.

According to Professor Sir Colin Humphreys, the Director of The Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride, "We require the highest purity gases for our advanced GaN research, which is why we have chosen the palladium membrane technology in the 9000C Series purifier."

New HEMS Hydrogen Analyzer data sheet available

To coincide with commercial shipments beginning in the next few months, the detailed product data sheet for the HEMS H2 analyzer is now available on our website.  The data sheet details the models available for detection of all impurities in hydrogen to <1 part-per-trillion (ppt).  This compact mass spectrometer uses a patent-pending method to concentrate  impurities for analysis.

HEMS has a 10 minute analysis cycle time and is self-calibrating. Three models are available for applications such as semiconductor process control, bulk gas production and compliance with SAEJ2719 for vehicle fueling.

Technical Paper and Exhibit at Pittsburgh Conference
P+E will give a presentation titled, "A Novel Device for Hydrogen Analysis" at the Pittsburgh Conference in Philadelphia, PA on March 19, 2013.  The presentation will provide technical development information on the Hydrogen Elimination Mass Spectrometer (HEMS) analyzer.

The presentation is part of the technical program at Pittcon, the world's largest gathering for analytical chemists and laboratory scientists. Pittcon attracts more than 17,000 attendees from industry, academia and government.

P+E will also exhibit at the conference to display the new HEMS analyzer and a new range of PH2d hydrogen carrier gas purifiers for gas chromatography.
