September 2011

Greetings!

Welcome to our September 2011 Newsletter, we are pleased to update you on recent news for Power+Energy.

See us at ISCSRM in Cleveland, Ohio on Sept 11-16

The International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials (ICSCRM) is the world's premier technical conference series for microelectronics and MEMS technology based on silicon carbide and related materials.

ICSCRM 2011 will feature over 350 technical presentations and 500 attendees. Power and Energy will be exhibiting in Booth 14. ICSCRM website: https://icscrm2011.org/

Power+Energy Appoints Director of Global Sales

P+E Welcomes Stuart Bestrom to Our Sales Team

Power+Energy, a supplier of hydrogen purification and separation products for the compound semiconductor and energy industry has appointed Stuart Bestrom as Director of Global Sales.  In this role, Stuart will be responsible for direct sales and management of the worldwide distributor network to promote P+E purifiers.

According to Al Stubbmann, VP Sales and Marketing, "Stuart joins Power+Energy with extensive experience in hydrogen purification technologies including palladium, regenerable catalytic and getter used in semiconductor and related markets.  His knowledge of the industry and technology will be a valuable resource as P+E gains growing acceptance of its' revolutionary, quality-driven technology to provide high-flow, reduced cost hydrogen purification systems to support large LED fabs requiring parts-per-billion gas purity."

Most recently, Stuart was Sales Manager at Johnson Matthey where he managed sales and marketing.  "I am excited to bring our innovative technology to the critical LED, solar and polysilicon crystal growth industry.  P+E's modernization of the traditional palladium purifier, with research funded by the US Department of Energy,  provides a durable, high-flow capability in a compact design that will serve the increasing needs of the semiconductor and energy industry."

Hydrogen Purifiers Shipped to Solar Polysilicon Plant in Taiwan

P+E Purifiers Installed at New Taipei Plant

A new customer in Taiwan has accepted delivery of three PE9060MZ hydrogen purifiers.  Each purifier has a capacity of 60 Nm3/hr. The purifiers will be installed at the new solar polysilicon plant now under construction.

Power+Energy's micro-channel membrane purifiers provide the highest purity hydrogen quality and they are fabricated using special processes to eliminate all carbon contamination. As a result, the purifiers will consistently deliver 99.9999999% pure hydrogen (less than 1 ppb).

Each purifier features dual-cells and PLC touch-screen operation in a compact enclosure that minimizes costs related to floor space, power consumption and HVAC exhaust systems. This plant is one of a number of new facilities under construction to meeting the growing needs for silicon to support the photovoltaics industry.

**NEW**  P+E "App of the Month"

Silicon Carbide

In September, Power & Energy will exhibit at the International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials (ICSCRM 2011).

This conference focuses on microelectronics and MEMS applications using silicon carbide (SiC) and related materials, and the 500+ attendees are involved in crystal growth, epitaxy for nitride and diamond applications.

SiC devices are used for energy saving, high-power and high-temperature applications. P+E's micro-channel purifiers are widely used for SiC processes because they eliminate trace Nitrogen, a dopant that must be tightly controlled for effective device fabrication.

Major players in the SiC industry include Cree, Dow Corning, International Rectifier, SemiSouth, Linkoping University-Sweden, LG Innotech, TransSiC, NovaSiC and others.  Learn more about the conference at https://icscrm2011.org/ and see further information on this application at:

P+E Collaborates with the US Navy on Auxiliary Power

P+E has been collaborating with the Office of Naval Research for the past 7 years in the development of its micro-channel Palladium membrane technology.

P+E's membranes have been utilized to separate fuel cell grade hydrogen from reformed logistic fuels to support the operation of fuel cells to generate auxiliary power for shipboard, vehicle mounted and transportable applications.
