Maundy Thursday
Thursday, March 24
7:00 PM

The word Maundy comes from a middle English word meaning command or mandate. Jesus, as he gathered with his disciples for one last meal, as he shares bread and wine says, "do this in remembrance of me." Jesus mandated this action this meal as a continual remembrance.

On Maundy Thursday, especially, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus for us. It is not simply recalling of an event or an action by our Savior, but it is re-membering, the opposite of dismembering, a brining us together with Him and with one another as we await Jesus' return. It is remembering a death that was not the final word, but a death whose final word is resurrection and life, and we who are members of that Body are raised with Him.

"I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."
